FORAGER
Take a gentle stroll in the woods and hunt for mushrooms.
Find giant mushrooms to gain special abilities like jumping, running and smashing rocks, while hunting for all ten of the small (and tasty!) red ones...
{ Controls }
Mouse/Keyboard
- Mouse (or Q/E) - Look (turn left/right)
- Left-click - Pick-up mushroom (and smash once you've found the smashshroom)
- W/A/S/D - Move forward/left/backwards/right
- Space - Jump (once you've found a jumpshroom)
- Hold shift - Run (once you've fund a speedshroom)
- Esc - Toggle control-view
- 1 - Toggle quality high/low
- +/- - In/decrease mouse sensitivity
Gamepad Mapping
- Right-stick - Look
- [RT] - "{ click }" / pick-up mushroom (and smash once you've found the smashshroom)
- Left-stick - Walk
- [A - XBox] / [X - PS4] - Jump (once you've found a jumpshroom)

FORAGER was made as part of the A Game By Its Cover 2020 jam, based on the 2020 entries for the My Famicase Exhibition.
The entry that I chose was FORAGER - by Austin Breed. Except for creating the original cartridge image, however, Austin did not commission and wasn't involved with the creation of this game. Although I hope they do enjoy it, if they ever play it! (Post-mortem here).
v1.1 fixes getting stuck in areas pre-speedshroom and adds mouse sensitivity options.

Atmosphere is great. Ambient music really worked for me. I wasn't able to get past the controls, unfortunately. Platforming with the mouse/keyboard combo was too much for me.

I added as many control schemes as I thought would help, but I’m glad you got something out of it anyway!
I love this atmosphere, but I'm having a really hard time with the mouse sensitivity being so low. Could you make it adjustable somehow?
I also wasn't super sure what to do or that I could do anything in the game until I looked down at the controls :P but I eventually figured it out. I'm really glad you picked this cart :3 Again, the atmosphere really gives it justice
Also, I ended up getting stuck here, unable to jump out by the bonus mushroom ^ ^;

I’ll take a look at the mouse sensitivity - shouldn’t be too hard. You can also use
Q
andE
to ‘look’ left/right, which might help in the interim.Also: sorry you got stuck! I can see exactly what happened, I’ll make a ramp out of there!
